What is ARES?
ARES stands for Amateur Radio Emergency Services and is a part of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Field Organization. The purpose of ARES is to provide emergency and public service communications in times of disaster and need. There are ARES organizations in many counties in the United States of America.
What is ARRL?
The ARRL is the National Association for Amateur Radio. The ARRL does three periodical (one monthly and two bi-monthly) publications, produces numerous books for the amateur radio community to support their activities, has a very extensive field organization to promote amateur radio across the United States of America, and represents amateur radio before Congress in Washington D.C.
Who does Hardee County ARES serve?
Hardee County ARES primary served agency is Hardee County Emergency Management. Other agencies we serve are the American Red Cross and the National Weather Service Office in Ruskin, FL that covers the Tampa Bay Area.
What are the requirements to join Hardee County ARES?
One must have an FCC issued Amateur Radio License of any class. The only other requirement is a sincere desire to serve our served agencies and our community through using their skills and equipment they already have.
